In 1991, Carolyn Weinberg and Roger Scheumann founded a coffee company in Rockville, MD. The two had ample experience—both were involved in the founding of Starbucks—but were looking for the opportunity to participate in a true local business again. Twenty years later, their Rockville shop, Quartermaine Coffee Roasters, has become a beloved and respected institution.
Stop by on your way to work and pick up a cup of coffee and croissant for breakfast, or visit later in the day for a caffeinated pick-me-up. If you need to be productive, just take a seat at one of the small tables lining the shop’s walls and settle in for a work session with your laptop, or charge your phone before you head out to meet friends.
